Vibrant rainbow over Makua Bay on Oahu Hawaii

"Anuenue of Makua #1"

Anuenue is the Hawaiian word for rainbow. There is no shortage of rainbows in Hawai`i. What is special is that this occurred on the leeward side of the island, which is predominately dry 75% of the year. Here, a double rainbow appears over Makua Valley at sunset (hence the yellowing of the vegetation and mountains). This rainbow stuck around until the sunset, almost 45 minutes later.
