Wailua Falls, no more than 5 minutes from the Lihue Airport, is an amazing place. The falls are more than 100 feet and run all year long. The amphitheater of the falls is home to the long-tailed tropicbird, or koa`e, that chase each other in circles for hours on end. And due to the amount of moisture in the air, the vegetation surrounding the falls is lush and verdant. It is a dream to stand at the base of Wailua and be mentally transported to a happier place.
